General description of the collection: The Richard E. Horrall photograph collection consists of photographs which were made from negatives taken by Major Richard E. Horrall while attached to the 189th General Hospital, mostly a fixed installation at Mourmelon, France. They show both exterior and interior shots of some of the buildings occupied by the hospital. Also included are photos of various other towns in France and Belgium showing wartime destruction. As Horrall traveled for rest and recreation (R & R) following hostilities, he took photos of destroyed tanks, both American and German, and other vehicles, as well as rockets and a one-man German submarine on display at Rheims, France. A final group of photos are on board the victory ship "Webster" returning to the United States (U.S.). Each photo has a penned caption on it, unfortunately some have bled on to the image or are imprinted on the image.
